VERY exciting news!

Just found out this week that Spare Change has been nominated for a Whitney Award in two categories-- romance and best book by a new author. I am thrilled and surprised and mostly humbled, all at the same time! I am very honored to be included in this group of authors I admire so much.

Ms. Aubrey Mace. Just wanted to tell you that I finished your book yesterday (book 6 in my Whitney Award Book Reading Marathon) and I quite enjoyed it. I locked my keys in my car at a Walgreens and, luckily for me, had the book in my purse. So I read while I waited for my knight in shining armor to arrive. Believe me, the irony of the name "Spare Change" and my need for my "Spare Keys" was not lost on me. Thanks for providing me with an escape during a rather pathetic time of self-recrimination and for writing an entertaining book. Can't wait to see you at the Whitney banquet. Congratulations!!

Sarah-

That's so bizarre that we were reading each other's books at almost the exact same time, and we posted on each other's blogs within minutes of each other. Maybe we're psychically connected or something. Now, if we'd both been locked out of our cars, that would just be creepy! :) Anyway, I'm on book 5 in my frantic attempt to read all the books before April 25th. Luckily, there were a couple I'd read already, so I had a bit of a head start. Anyway, so glad you enjoyed Spare Change, and I'm excited to meet you at the Whitney's! Congratulations!

Hey, did you get your ballot from the Whitney committee yet? I pretty much went into full cardiac arrest when I saw that the ballots are due on April 3rd! That cut an entire 2 weeks from my time table. Yikes! I might not be able to vote in every category.
I'm almost convinced of the psychic connection between us, but am glad you managed to hold on to your keys. Maybe you'll be able to send me a psychic vibe next time I'm not the verge of leaving my keys in a locked car (I do it a lot).

I'm glad you said something about the deadline. I saw the ballot in my email, but I just glanced over it. I seem to get myself into trouble by skimming over things, but now that I keep an extra car key in my purse, I no longer find myself locked out of my car for long! My problem as far as the car is concerned is remembering where I parked. :(
I guess I'm going to have to step up the reading pace a little! This really came at a great time for me-- it's a great excuse for my not making more of an attempt to break out of the bout of writer's block I'm currently experiencing for a little longer!
